My Ordinary Paris
Scenes captured at the rhythm of my walks and strolls in Paris. Images show modern Parisian poetry, inhabitants and workers with their strengths, doubts and moments of abandonment. It's the beauty of men and women, the courage and strength of human beings, sometimes the suffering.
Paris is renowned for being « The city of light ». Also known for its beauty, architecture, history, culture, elegance. Its sweetness of life. Books, movies, Tv shows show us a watered-down reality linked to the need of image (EMILY IN PARIS is the perfect example). A positive impression given to the world for tourism activity, essential to the Parisian and French budget. Tourism is crucial for French economy with 63,5 billion in revenues by 2023, +12% over 2022 , representing 7% from French GDP. 50% of this economy is generated by Paris.
But what about the people living in the city ? What’s their ordinary Paris ? What’s their routine, their working conditions. What about the poverty ?
A smile, a thought, a look, an attitude, loneliness, ordinary objects and moments, forgetting oneself for a millisecond. These photographs show the atmosphere, human beauty, the joys and sorrows but also the difficulties and the strength necessary to live/work in Paris in our century.
They are candid, taken in the moment. Portraits of a city and its inhabitants not always in line with their time. Halfway between modernism and tradition. They are also, I believe, a deep reflection of me and my emotions when I pressed the shutter.
